What are little boys made of?

Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails

That's what little boys are made of !

Sugar and spice and all things nice

I could not wait to have a little girl! After spending several years of my life surrounded by hot wheels and dinosaurs and dragons and fart jokes, I was ready for a little bundle of pink. I envisioned sitting around a play table with my daughter - having tea parties and playing dolls. Wearing matching Mommy and Me outfits. Hitting the bargain racks. Watching Annie together. Giggling over which Wiggle was the cutest.

Instead, I got this...


A child who dresses up in pull-ups instead of Disney Princess....



A surfer chic who likes to dress herself in boys swim trunks over her pajamas, wear red knee socks, and a jacket that says, appropriately, Rascal...


A plumber's butt...

A girl who likes to get dirty and mucky. And, no, this actually isn't the famous lice expedition that I've been blogging about. It's the contents of about 4 plastic sand buckets.


A raid-the-bottom-bathroom-drawer-and-play-with-all-the-tampons kinda girl...

And finally....a child who'd rather pretend to bite the head off a rubber snake than eat a pretend Princess cake.


Yes, that's my Nandi. Tomboy Extraordinaire. A fistful of dynamite packed into a petite little body. A force to be reckoned with. A girl who knows her own mind.

Don't let the sweet smile fool you....

Or she'll whack you over the head and steal all your pocket money.

Oh! That brings me back to my younger days when my brother decided to take an empty tampon to school for "Show and Tell"! His teacher called my Mom to ask her about his "telescope"! lol

The Answer to Noah's Shirt Chewing...

Why I Haven't Been Blogging

I know that I haven't been blogging much lately. I don't know... I think I've just lost interest in it. In the past, I could blog about mindless, frivolous drivel - like how Sim didn't know who Rick Springfield was or my letter to Michael Phelps or how I'll drive across Texas in order to find a bag of special edition Hershey kisses . I could write about things that were fun and lighthearted - but I just can't find that place inside me anymore. Now, I did nearly blog the other day about how I almost had a panic attack when I thought that L'Oreal discontinued my favorite lipstick, but it just seemed pointless and unimportant - especially when compared to the real stuff going on in my life. I don't know what to blog about anymore. I know that blogs are meant to be for the blogger only and that you should be able to blog about anything you want - but I can't help but recognize that blogging about RAD is alienating me from the people in my real life...

Long Overdue Update!

Hey y'all! It's been an entire YEAR since I last updated this blog. I can't believe there was once a time where I blogged daily. I think Facebook has ruined me for blogging because it's so easy to just post a quick update here and there.  My blog posts always turn into novels. ;) A year ago, I posted my educational plans for the kids over the summer. Well, that turned out to be a big wash!  My niece, Hannah, came to stay with us for six weeks over the summer and we decided to can the school and just enjoy our summer break. We had a ton of fun, so it was worth it! So what's happened in the last year and where are we headed? Here's an update on each of the kids: 1. Noah turned 13 last October. THIRTEEN!! Y'all, I have a teenager! Noah's doing really well. Not a lot of progress, but zero regression, so it's all good.
