Crafts, Dr. Seuss, and Losing My Groove....

Sorry, ya'll. I've been in a major blogging funk lately. I seem to have lost my mojo and don't know where it is. Oh wait. Yes, I do... K-I-D-S.

I've been spending a lot of time lately just spending time with them. Which is really how it should be, right? But I am one of those people who has a one-track mind. When I focus all of my attention on one thing, everything else gets left behind. Oh, you should see the state of my house...

We've been doing a ton of crafty things. Sim swears I'm making a ton of memories, but sometimes I think I'm just making a ton of mess. But you know that old saying... "How do you spell love? T-I-M-E".

I am thinking that I should be scrapbooking all of this, though. Anyone know anything about digital scrapbooking? I need a serious tutorial. Shara?

Anyway, we are currently doing monthly themes. This month we are doing Ireland and conveniently studying St. Patrick's Day and doing a load of crafts. I'll try to post about them later. I'm hoping to do our first lapbook ever. We found some good ideas on free lapbooks HERE. The one I've linked to is on St. Paddy's Day.. just remember that it's preschool based. I don't want any of our Irish friends (or Northern Irish friends... Barbara!) thinking that we Americans do immature school work. ;-) Oh, and I hope to include a scrapbook page that showcases all the crafts we're doing.

*Note: I just realized the link only takes you to the main page. Click on Lapbooks, then Free Lapbooks, then Master List. Scroll down to "That's What Leprechauns Do" and you'll see it.

On a different note, the kids celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday yesterday by making Cat in the Hat hats and the little flower with a speck of dust on it from Horton Hears a Who. We finished the evening by eating a plate of green eggs and ham, reading some books, and watching Horton.

And, yes, I did use green food coloring on the eggs. I know, I know. The horror of it all.

And guess what? Today I get to hang out with Christine! And Amy! Together! At the same place!

Now THAT is gonna be some fun!

May have to squeeze it around a doctor's appt for Nandini because her leg is hurting her after her injections :( but I'll definitely be there.

Okay, that's it. I promise to do my Dino Math post for WWFM tomorrow. I'm really excited about it. Eli is really struggling just to recognize his numbers 1 - 10, but he is so trying. And begs to do one game all the time... so I know he'll get there. Until tomorrow, here are some of the pics from yesterday's festivities...

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.” Dr. Seuss

"From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.”

“If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good”

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”

"I do not like green eggs and ham I do not like them sam I am.”

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the things you can think up if only you try!”

"A person's a person no matter how small."

Oh, and I am working on posting a video of my African Grey chatting it up, but the one I took last night was too dark. I thought the kiddos might enjoy it.

I loved Horton Hears a Who! Too sweet.

I don't know much about digital scrapbooking, but considering I have a closet full of scrap supplies and I haven't scrapped in over a year, I should probably learn. If I figure it out I'll let you know. =)

Easy and free (but for the printing) digital scrapbooking is at the Creative Memories site. You can download the free demo version of the scrapping program which I found very intuitive (unlike Photoshop which has a STEEP learning curve) and you can download free papers and templates from their site.

As long as you don't get addicted (ahem) and start buying the full-service program (ahem) and all the paper kits (ahem) from them it is fairly inexpensive.

The other free program I've used is from ScrapFlair and they have lots of papers (free) too.

Just make sure you have a newish pc to use it on as any of them suck alot of memory.

Love the hats!
