Tea, Hats, and a Royal Wedding

We are tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired! Or as Nandi likes to say, "Ti-rud!"

We had our little Royal Wedding Tea Party with the kids last night. Nandi decorated our hats all by herself. We were pretty impressed.

What do you think?

Eli didn't want to be left out, so he strapped a pink flamingo to an old baseball hat.

heehee

And Sim managed to find an old cowboy hat.

Noah's not much of a hat wearer... but he did promptly eat "Princess Catherine's sapphire engagement ring"... aka a ring pop which left his lips a ghoulish dark blue.

We served cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, scones with currants, strawberries and cream, fish and chips, and a nice pot of tea.









We tried three different dresses on our William and Kate paper dolls.

Eli colored a pictures of the "official engagement portrait".

Sim unwrapped the various pieces of china he brought over from England....



And we woke up just in time to watch Kate step out of the car in her gawgeous! wedding gown.

She looked beautiful.

We gathered all the kids in bed, drank tea, and finished up last night's scones.

And then Eli turns to me and says, "Marriage looks boring. I think I'll skip it."

Spoken like a true 7 year old!

we all camped out in the living room, but i was the only one awake enough to watch the big wedding by the time it finally came on!

Why I Haven't Been Blogging

I know that I haven't been blogging much lately. I don't know... I think I've just lost interest in it. In the past, I could blog about mindless, frivolous drivel - like how Sim didn't know who Rick Springfield was or my letter to Michael Phelps or how I'll drive across Texas in order to find a bag of special edition Hershey kisses . I could write about things that were fun and lighthearted - but I just can't find that place inside me anymore. Now, I did nearly blog the other day about how I almost had a panic attack when I thought that L'Oreal discontinued my favorite lipstick, but it just seemed pointless and unimportant - especially when compared to the real stuff going on in my life. I don't know what to blog about anymore. I know that blogs are meant to be for the blogger only and that you should be able to blog about anything you want - but I can't help but recognize that blogging about RAD is alienating me from the people in my real life...

Let's Give This Another Try

Wow. Let's see if I can do this again. This whole blogging thing. It was really nice taking a month-long break from it. The truth is blogging doesn't really take up a lot of my time. It's all the stuff done after I blog that takes up my time. Like, "Oooh! Let me check my email and see if anyone's left a comment!" or "Oooh! Let's see what everyone's blogging about today!" or "Oooh! I wonder what Ralph Macchio is up to these days. Let's Wikipedia him!" And then that turns into "Hey, whatever happened to that new Karate Kid movie they were gonna make? The one with Will Smith's son. Or was it his daughter? Okay, it's gonna bug me if I don't find out. Let's google it!" And on and on and so it goes. But another reason that I think I needed to take a rest was because I just didn't know what direction to take with my blog.
